Three years in development, over 15,000 bug fixes and feature improvements, a new page rendering engine, remarkable performance gains, multiple OS integration—you could say the several hundred engineers working on Firefox have been busy. And their work has paid off. Speedy performance, thrifty memory usage, and, in particular, the address bar that now predicts where you want to go when you start typing (what Mozilla insiders refer to as the Awesome Bar) firmly plant Firefox at the top of the Web browser hill.
When you install Firefox 3, you don't have to worry about losing anything from Firefox 2—history, bookmarks, start page, search engine preference, and even downloads performed in the earlier browser version—all will be there to greet you like old friends. The installer for Firefox 3 is available in 46 languages, from Afrikaans to Ukrainian. The US English version weighs in at a 7.1MB for Windows, 17 for Mac OS X, and 8.6 for Linux. Installation is as painless as it gets—it took me about 20 seconds on a far-from-new XP system.
Firefox 3 looks barely different than its predecessor, but it's undergone a minor face-lift—in particular, the Forward and Back buttons, in combination, look like a sideways keyhole. The browser buttons and window frames have also been redesigned to conform with the look of whichever OS you're running—Windows XP, Vista, Macintosh, or Linux.
Microsoft Patches Windows Home Server
Microsoft said this week that it has begun sending out a patched release candidate of Windows Home Server Power Pack 1, which fixes the file corruption problems that the OS has experienced for the last several months.
Users can download the fix (Build 1771) via the Microsoft Connect program.
"We are running this public beta with the aspiration that we will get thousands of beta testers to help us prove that we not only have fixed 'the bug', but have significantly improved all parts of Windows Home Server with new features such as" support for 64-bit Vista, backup of shared folders, better remote access and energy efficiency, and support for Chinese and Japanese languages, Microsoft said.
Microsoft said it's confident that the new RC1 release fixes the bug, which affected "a small percentage" of users who used certain programs to edit or transfer files that were stored across WHS machines with more than one hard drive.
"We will not ship the final release of Windows Home Server Power Pack 1 until the community has validated our work. In the Release Documentation for Windows Home Server Power Pack 1 we outline a number of specific test scenarios," WHS general manager Charlie Kindel wrote in a blog post. "For us to feel our testing has been validated we need a large number of beta testers to work through these scenarios and regular home server operation for a period of time. Given the fantastic number of people who have signed up already (well ahead of the numbers we were hoping for), and how great the community has been in the past in helping us, I am confident we'll get enough testers. The only remaining question is how quickly those testers download the bits and start testing them. "
Once the scenarios are worked through, a final version will be released, Microsoft said.
Since the RC1 candidate is not a final version, users will probably experience bugs, and are strongly advised to manually back up their files before installing the new software. Microsoft has set up a forum to help users solve their problems; known issues include a tendency to run out of memory, and a duration of an hour or more to download the updated connector files.

Three elegant Nokias in black
It was a challenge for me to review three black designed Nokia mobile phones without their manuals.
The first question in my mind was whether or not their ease of use would be as impressive as the design of these black Nokia 6500 classic, the Nokia 6500 slide and the Nokia 6300i, which
looked elegant and captivated me.
When I tried the Nokia 6300i, it was easy to open the rear casing as well as the battery. But when it comes to the Nokia 6500 slide and classic, you may find it difficult to open their back casing.

You may be hesitant to persist as the phones might break if you insist.
"A Nokia user may not be familiar with the way to open the back casing of the Nokia 6500 slide," a friend said after having a look at the mobile phone.
Despite the difficult start, I found that most of the features available in the three black Nokias were excellent.
Only the Nokia 6500 slide had a micro-sd card readability problem. When I inserted my micro-sd card into the mobile phone, it was not readable by the mobile phone. Even in the file
manager, the micro-sd card was not displayed.

However, other important features such as the keypad, music player, camera and video recording were friendly to use as usual. Nokia has been known by the public for years.
What I like from the three Nokias was the quality of the sound produced by their speakerphone and headset, which is superb. As far as I knew, it is not easy to find a mobile phone where both
the speaker phone and headset are good quality.
In the Nokia 6500 classic, MP3 songs are stored in a 1-GB internal memory, so we needed no extra micro-sd card as such a memory can save some 300 songs. However, in the other two Nokias, a micro-sd card to store MP3 songs was required.
The cameras of the three Nokia were also among the best in the mobile phones. And the best among the three was the 3.2-megapixel camera in the Nokia 6500 slide. It is more than enough to record good moments such as the current student protest against the fuel
price hikes. Furthermore, we do not need to shut off the camera to see our photos.
Because the three mobile phones are equipped with a 3G connectivity, downloading data from the Internet, or mobile phone chatting will be cheaper than a mobile phone equipped with only
GPRS connectivity.
With a great design, various features and very good performance as well as only a few difficulties in use, these three Nokias are highly recommended to buy.
